IT engineers and weekend getaways go hand in hand. Working for 5 days a week makes sure we take a break from our hectic schedule and run away to find solace over the weekend. Bangalore being the IT hub of our country, Nandi Hills has been topping the list for a weekend getaway from the city. As I have lived in Bangalore for 5 years, I have driven most of the time to Nandi Hills on a Saturday morning after a Friday night out with friends. Here are the reasons why Nandi Hills is the most sought after weekend getaway from Bangalore.

Nandi Hills is located just 60kms from Bangalore and it takes maximum 2 hours to drive to Nandi Hills from anywhere in the city. If you leave early, you would not find any traffic and the drive is peaceful serving as a stress buster. The return journey may be a bit long but the view on the way back home is picturesque with lush green fields on both the ends and a straight road in between.
Visual Treat:
Nandi Hills is visually appealing and a photographer’s paradise. With a beautiful skyline covering the hills and a layered shot of the mountains at the sunrise or sunset, one can spend ample time here honing their shooting skills. The walk amongst nature is also an activity to be enjoyed with friends and family. You may also find a whole lot of crowd trying to capture their favourite moments at their favourite spot. The view from the view-point is something that can force you to come back to this place again.

Bangalore as a city is a very good travel destination for the travellers all over the world. Nandi Hills as the name suggests is not actually located in the hills. Anyone who drives in Bangalore and has basic knowledge/experience of hill driving can easily drive up to this place. While more than 90 percent of the drive from Bangalore is in plains, just the start of the trip offers some incline above to the view point. If in case you are not comfortable in driving on hills, there are various taxi options available from Bangalore for a half day or a full day tour.
