While you get to experience the best of parties and hep life in the North Goa, the South Goa brings a lot of calmness and peace to this land. There are various other small islands like the Divar Island and Vashi Island which are completely contrasting to what Goa is as they are blessed by nature in a different way. During our week-long trip to Goa, we happened to see the different facets of Goa each with plentiful time and got to learn lot many things about this place which usually cannot be done over a weekend. We started our trip with the Divar Islands where we were staying with Deevaaya Resorts for two days. Post the rejuvenation at this Ayurvedic Nature Cure Center we moved to North Goa to experience the other side of Goa. A side full of fun, frolic and food which was relished to the core. The last two days of our week-long trip were dedicated for a staycation in the South Goa. The icing on the cake was the monsoon season which had changed the complete look and feel of Goa. With greenery all around and South Goa in Monsoons is famous for a calmness and peace in abundance we were hoping to have a good time here. Plan a Staycation in South Goa:

South Goa in Monsoons, unlike the North, is famous for a staycation. There are various resorts in South Goa which offer perfect staycation options with everything available within the resort. We stayed with the Alila Diwa Resort in South Goa and it was a perfect destination to just go and relax without much of a hustle. The resort had everything from the spa center to the fitness center to pool and mini theater to spend your time at. Even the food options were divided into various restaurants to enjoy a different kind of cuisines. Thus, if you are planning a staycation in South Goa in Monsoons, it will be best if you could choose a resort based on the amenities and services they offer. Also, as it was the monsoon season, the resorts like Alila Diwa offer special packages for the same and you could enjoy the luxury at really affordable prices.

Explore Serene Beaches of South Goa:

South Goa is famous for its beaches. The difference between the beaches in North Goa and the beaches in South Goa is that the beaches in South Goa in Monsoons are extremely clean, less populated and are very peaceful. Spending hours at the beach while reading a book or just talking to your partner can be one of the best things to do at a beach in South Goa. While we were in South Goa we were staying close to the Gonsua beach which was a perfect place to spend the evening. We also visited the Colva beach during the second day of our stay and enjoyed the rains there as it was the monsoons.

Enjoy the Sunset together:
When was the last time you watched the sun go down with your partner? Well, South Goa especially the beaches offers the perfect setting for you. During our two days of our stay, we visited the beach on day one and spent the second day in our resort’s balcony watching the sun disappear. This was truly one of the most romantic feeling that you can experience while staying at a hotel in South Goa.

Visit the Menezes Braganza Pereira House:
This is one of the most famous and old houses in Goa which is famous for its historical significance. The house was built more than 300 years ago and has a collection of different items from that era. The caretaker of the house shows you around and you are allowed to take pictures too. A visit to this house means a visit down the memory lane where you get to see the way the people used to live during that period.

Visit the Churches in South Goa:
As we have been saying earlier also, Goa is full of churches. From small chapels to big and old churches, you get to see different kinds all over the cities. South Goa is no different when it comes to churches. As we had already visited quite a few of them in North Goa, we only went for one in South Goa. The Three Kings Chapel is located quite close to the Menezes Braganza Pereira House and is located on a hilltop. The area is secluded so you need to be aware of the surroundings while visiting this church. Not recommended to be visited in odd hours.

Go for a Self Drive in South Goa:

South Goa is a heaven for those who love driving. With long straight roads and greenery on both the sides, it becomes extremely pleasurable to drive along that route. There are various self-drive options available in South Goa and you may even go for a two-wheeler ride if you wish. However, a two-wheeler may not be that convenient during the monsoons as it keeps raining every now and then.

Enjoy the Best of Goan Cuisine:
Your staycation cannot be complete without enjoying the best of Goan cuisine. From the best of Prawn Curry to lobsters to even the fresh catch of the day, these dishes are surely going to get your hunger bells ringing. While we were staying with Alila Diwa we relished on local dishes in the Spice Studio, the in-house Goan specialty restaurant. Another option for some lip-smacking dishes in South Goa is Martin’s Corner. A restaurant cum cafe in the Majorda area, this restaurant is very popular with both the locals and the tourists.

South Goa in Monsoons has a completely different experience than what you would experience during the summers. However, the exciting adventure sports and a few other activities like enjoying a beer at the shack by the beach can be experienced in the summers season here. The monsoons offer you a lot of peace and tranquility in the air and give you the best of luxury at surprisingly lesser costs.
