AGRA – Out on the ROADS again!

There are some things in life you can never say ‘no’ to. Road trip for us is one such thing. Driving always serves as a stress buster for me. From the bylanes of Agra and Vrindavan to the hills of Uttarakhand to the ever smooth expressways and the wide Delhi roads, each road has its own charm. Saumya, the best navigator one can ask for, fills in the shoes of a superb DJ with the best songs for the trip. Thus, road trips with Saumya have always been the best as we make a perfect team!

Never say NO to a click!

With a movie like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, the passion to be on the roads with your best friends reached a new level. Almost every travel enthusiasts now has that dream of going around the world in a car. Although we may not be able to travel the globe right now due to our professional commitments, we always try to take some time out for short road trips around Delhi. So, when BlogAdda approached us to chronicle our recent road trip for CEAT Tyres, we thought of sharing the story from our weekend trip to Agra. Although Saumya had been to Agra earlier but this was my first tarriance to the city.

We started from Ghaziabad on a Saturday morning and comfortably hit the Yamuna Expressway in an hour’s time. Driving on the Yamuna Expressway has always been a pleasure as it gives you a sense of freedom from the never so sparse traffic in cities. However, one must always be careful to get the tyre pressures checked and not over speed leading to a burst, especially in summers. We were thankful to have CEAT Tyres in our car as it provided good control and assurance for our safety. The Expressway passed like a breeze and soon we were at our hotel in Agra for quick refreshment before heading out for the Agra Fort.

Agra Fort was big enough to be called a city within the city. This place had amazing architecture from the Mughal period and is designed beautifully. One can imagine the lavish lives that the emperors used to live in those buildings. We were amazed by the marvel of engineers at that time and how they used to design the fort to accommodate the best of light, air and water in the fort. From Diwan-e-Aam to Diwan-e-Khaas, each structure had its unique significance and reason for its design. If you want to know about the history of Agra Fort, read here.

Once done with Agra Fort we moved to the Taj Mahal. The queue for entering the premises was long as it was a weekend. We stepped in from the East Gate and were greeted by a grand entrance before meeting the monument itself.

The history of Taj Mahal can be read from the information displayed just before the entrance. Quick refresher always helps! No matter how many times you may have seen it in pictures, the actual view of the Taj Mahal is mesmerizing to the core. I was not able to take my eyes off it for a good time as I was so amazed by this human creation. Knowing the fact that this was done without the help of any modern machinery, hats off to the craftsmanship of the workers.

The Majestic Wonder!

The people were flocking the Taj Mahal and were busy in clicking pictures, mostly taking selfies with the monument. We also saw the typical holding Taj by the tip pictures being clicked for many visitors as well. Renovation work was also in progress for three pillars to clean them to white again as they had turned off-white due to pollution.

We bid good bye to Taj Mahal after watching the beautiful sunset on the banks of the river Yamuna. We wanted our next morning to be a late Sunday morning to get the feel of a holiday. We woke up late, checked out from our hotel and headed straight to Pinch of Spice for our brunch. The restaurant is one of the best in Agra and serves delicious buffet. After having a nice and filling buffet we decided to move back to Delhi as we wanted to be home by evening. Crossing the Agra city was a bit time taking due to narrow roads and heavy traffic around Taj Mahal. However, as soon as we hit the Yamuna Expressway, home seemed not too far! It was a short yet refreshing break after our hectic last week. We always look forward to more such trips and memories. Thank you CEAT Tyres and BlogAdda!
