Exploring Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary with The Kumaon, Almora
As we were staying with the Kumaon in Almora, the key point about the property was its location from Binsar. The drive from the Kumaon to Binsar took only 30 mins and the road conditions were really good. Here are a few things you should look forward to when staying with the Kumaon in Almora:

The Property:
The Kumaon is a beautiful property located in the hills of Almora giving you a perfect place to stay. It has almost everything to offer that you want for a luxurious stay. The property is so beautifully designed that it gives you a very contemporary look coupled with modernization. The view of the hills from this property especially during the sunrise and sunsets can be breathtakingly awesome. The property is located right over the Kasar Devi Ridge and is very near to the famous Kasar Devi Temple.
The Rooms:
The rooms at the Kumaon are huge! With very spacious bedrooms to even more spacious bathrooms, the entire portion is beautifully designed to give you the most comfortable stay. While the rooms are cozy with the room heaters, the view from the rooms is splendid. The glass walls on the front of the room make it a perfect setup to enjoy with your partner.

The rooms at the Kumaon are divided into an upper deck and lower deck sections. The lower deck rooms have an additional balcony with the room while the upper deck rooms had a better view of the mountains. The rooms are well maintained and we especially loved their washrooms for the sleek design and cleanliness.

The Food:
When you are at the Kumaon you just can’t miss the Kumaoni food they have to offer. The first night that we stayed here we were offered Kumaoni styled mutton curry and it was by far one of the best Mutton Curry we had till date. Apart from the dinner, not even a single food item can be picked which you can say was not up to your expectations.

Right from Indian to Italian to Chinese, all the cuisines offered to us were simply amazing. During our interaction with the chef, we understood his passion to serve the best of food to all the people who come to visit Kumaon. Don’t miss out on their Poha for breakfast when you are there!

The Staff and Service:
The service at the Kumaon is exceptional. They maintain a very high standard when it comes to taking care of their guests and are always on their toes to help. The best part is that as soon as you reach the Kumaon, even though you have to walk around 300m to reach the property, you already have the staff waiting for you at the parking spot.

They take all your luggage so that you can reach comfortably. We could always find the staff smiling and serving us, quite a pleasant experience so to say. While Isha took really good care of us at the Kumaon, it was a pleasure to meet Pushkar and get to know more about the property from him.
How to reach Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary:
Binsar can easily be reached by road from Almora. The road conditions from Almora to Binsar are good as the roads are well-maintained tar roads. It takes almost an hour to reach Binsar from Almora.
Best Time to Visit Binsar:
Summers and early winters are considered to be the best time to visit Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary. Binsar weather is mostly pleasant during summers but get hotter during the daytime. The pine trees on both the sides of the road provide a much-needed relief during summers.

Where to stay in Binsar:
As Binsar is a small town valley located in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand, the Uttarakhand Tourism has set up a tourism guest house just 2 km before the zero point. The guest house is economical and serves good food too. However, there is no electricity in the guest house and you get power only from 7 pm to 9 pm every day. There are other hotels in Binsar.

If you are looking for a more comfortable and beautiful property, our recommendation is to choose the Kumaon near Almora. This is located just 30mins away from Binsar and is one of the best property to stay in this region for the top-notch rooms, delicious food and exceptional service.

The entry fee for the sanctuary is 150INR (approx 2 USD) per person and the vehicle charges are 250INR (approx 3USD).

Our Experiences from Binsar:
Our day trip to Binsar started after a sumptuous breakfast at the Kumaon. The route to the sanctuary is covered with pine trees on both the sides. This makes the location one of the most Instagrammable places in India. As we stopped at almost every 5 mins on spotting a beautiful frame, we could reach the tourism guest house around 1 in the afternoon. The staff at the guest house informed us about the forest fire because of which there was a lot of haze in the surroundings. The mountain peaks were not visible due to the haze and it was not advisable to trek for 2kms to reach the zero point. As luck wasn’t favoring us, we decided to spend some time at the guest house, click some pictures of the views from the terrace and decided to head back.
Stopover for Snacks:
On the way back to our resort we stopped for a while at a cute little cafe known as the Simba Cafe located near the guest house. The cafe is beautifully done with wooden interiors and has a small library too for spending some time enjoying the views and reading. We tried the cappuccino and Simba Special Maggi there but didn’t like the Maggi much.
Getting clicked in the Forest:
With mixed feelings of missing the view from the Zero Point and not so hearty snacks at the cafe, we started back again. Our mood was popped up again as soon as we clicked more pictures in the forest. The pine trees on both sides of the roads and we as subjects could not have been a better frame for us. Special thanks to our driver and guide Aamir who never lost his patience by stopping and clicking our pictures all the time.
Our day trip to Binsar concluded with a beautiful candle-lit dinner at the Kumaon. The staff at Kumaon is so courteous and caring that it makes your stay a really special one. All in all, a day well spent a the Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary with the Kumaon.
We could not spot any animals during our visit to Binsar as mostly you don’t see them during the daytime. However, it is recommended to be cautious especially during the night as you may encounter some wild animals from the forest here.
