The phone comes in three color variants namely Just Black, Not Pink and Clearly White. We had the shining Just Black variant of the phone with us. Here are some unboxing pictures of it.
Pixel 3 as compared to its sibling Pixel 2 has many firsts in it. Here are few of the new features that we have been using with the Pixel 3 in the first few days:
Pictures and Video features of Pixel 3 XL:
1) Top Shot:
Known to capture the perfect photo, the Top Shot in Pixel 3 uses AI to make it happen. It captures a series of events just before and after clicking the picture and suggests the best pic of the lot. Now get your moments captured perfectly with Top Shot without blinking an eye!
2) Group Selfie:
Now we get more space in our group selfies or while capturing a complete mountain ranges with the help of Group Selfie. This feature allows us an additional room in our selfies so that we can capture all our friends together. Let the party grow is all we can say.

5) Portrait Mode, both front and back:
The portrait mode on the Google Pixel has been one of our favorite modes when it comes to capturing crystal clear subjects with a blurry background. Now as the Pixel 3 comes with a dual front-facing 8MP cameras with portrait mode, even our selfies will be sharper and focused.
Videos:
Whenever we shoot videos we have the issue of focus shifting from the subject to the surroundings, not anymore! The videos shot on Pixel 3 does not shift the focus from the subject to anywhere else even if the subject is moving. We will be shooting more of our vlogs on the Pixel 3 to enjoy the technical advancements known as Motion Auto Focus. It also has the stabilization for the front-facing cameras which makes our selfie videos more stabilized.
Well, it happens when we talk about the latest smartphone, especially a Pixel 3, all you can do is talk about the incredible camera. But there is a lot more to the Pixel 3 than just the camera. When it comes to the AI-powered features of this device, we were left quite happy and content with which it makes our lives easier. Few of the features that we have been loving in the past few days we have been using it are listed below:
Digital Wellbeing:
We know how much are we addicted to smartphones these days. To keep a control on that addiction, Pixel 3’s Digital Wellbeing suite ensures it can help us understand the usage of our own in a much better way. It shows the most used apps, checks for the battery consumption based on the usage and the Wind Down mode helps us sleep gently by changing the screen transition to greyscale.
Other features of the Pixel 3 includes a Fast and Wireless Charging which is achieved via an 18W fast charger and a Pixel 3 (sold separately). The Pixel 3 uses AI to keep your phone battery running your most used apps throughout the day.
Based on our usage we have found that the battery lasts close to 24Hours on a full charge with heavy usage of Social Media Apps, GPS and Camera. The Pixel 3 XL comes with a 6.3 inches OLED display and looks stunningly beautiful when held in hand. The ergonomics of this phone makes it easier to hand considering the big size. One thing that you would notice on the bezel-less display is the big notch on the front encapsulating the two front cameras. This notch may seem a bit different at first but becomes we got used to it by now.
The Pixel 3 also has the latest version of Android 9 Pie, running on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 OctaCore processor with 4GB of memory and comes in two variants of 64GB and 128GB of storage space. Also, all Pixel 3 users will have an unlimited storage of Photos and Videos on their Google Photos account in the original resolution. This makes our lives easier using the Google Search in Google Photos and we don’t have to dig them out manually.
Google has also implemented the custom designed security chip known as Titan M which makes Pixel 3 the most secure smartphone ever. It uses the likes of password protection, disk encryption, app data and the integrity of the operating system code too.
Having used Google Pixel 2 for almost a year especially on our South India Trip and moving to Pixel 3 now seems to be more fun, interactive and helpful. The quality of the pictures captured with the stunning 12.2 MP camera makes us ditch our DSLR many times and carry this super handy device with us.
So, this was a quick unboxing and experiences of using the Pixel 3 XL in the past few days. We have been very happy with the performance of the phone till now especially when it comes to the camera. The only issue we have faced till now is that it gets overheated sometimes with the extensive use of the camera which we are sure will be fixed with the latest OS updates. Do let us know how has your journey with Pixel been till now? Do you also want to ditch your DSLR most of the times and carry this handy device along?
