Bali Itinerary – 5 Days of amazing Landscapes
With Bali being the honeymooners’ paradise this place also has a special value for the tourists as it is one of the most tourist friendly cities. A place where you find a mix of mountains, beaches, coffee plantations and greenery, this city can give you everything that other exotic destinations promise to deliver. This city has a Visa-on-Arrival which makes it completely hassle free for the tourists as the staff on the airport is very supportive.
We always had one thing in mind before the discussions for our perfect holiday destination, the time constraint. As we both are IT engineers, planning a long holiday wasn’t possible after the Indian wedding which had all the rituals for almost a week. However, we still decided to make it 6 days including the travel time. We did an extensive survey and zeroed on to Bali as it formed the perfect itinerary for our short travel. Here’s the detailed itinerary of our fun-filled trip to Bali enjoying the Balinese hospitality.
Day:1
We landed in Bali after a good 12 hours flight from India. The flight was via Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia where we had a 3 hours halt early in the morning. We reached Bali around 12 noon and headed straight to our stay, the Khayangan Dream Villas in Seminyak. Seminyak is famous for luxury accommodations and high-end restaurants and bars at the Seminyak Square. This day was at leisure as we wanted to relax and get rid of the jet lag. We took a dip in the pool before a sumptuous lunch at the resort. After taking some rest and getting ourselves accustomed to the new place, (we loved our resort), we decided to take a walk to Seminyak Square.
Roaming around the Seminyak Square was nice as it gave the feel of a cafe street with live music being played in most of it. There were also some money exchange counters with rates displayed outside which turned out to be helpful. After having dinner at one of the cafes and sipping coffee at a cafe by the beach we decided to retreat to our resort and call it a day.
Day 2:
Bali has everything from beaches to mountains and lots of greenery. As Bali is famous for beaches majorly, the second day of our trip was dedicated to water sports at the Tanjung Benoa beach. This beach is located North of Nusa Dua and is away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We couldn’t go for Parasailing as the wind was not in our favor. To console ourselves we decided to try our hands at Banana Boat Ride and Jetskii. Banana boat ride was fun and a bit jittery especially when our captain tried to perform some stunts. Jet Skii was one happy ride. Loved the way we rode high on the waves and performed the stunts. After having our share of joy with water followed by lunch at the beach we returned back to the resort.
The evening was planned for a dinner at the Queens. The Queens is a fine dine restaurant in Seminyak. The staff had arranged a beautiful candle light dinner for us. Having butter chicken which tasted authentic, far away from India, was a bliss. After a good dinner at the Queens we returned to our resort and had a peaceful sleep.
Day 3:
It was time to explore Bali and day 3 was dedicated for an excursion to the Kintamani Volcano tour. Kintamani Volcano is the favorite for any first time visitor to Bali. The scenic beauty from Kintamani is picturesque. The site has a restaurant for enjoying the beautiful scenery with a cup of coffee or lunch. After the tour to Kintamani we decided to skip the Batubulan village which is famous for hand woven items. We headed to Besaikh Temple, the most famous Hindu temple in Bali. This temple is a must visit for it’s architectural beauty along with the spiritual peace.
After seeking the blessings from God, we moved to the Coffee Plantation at Ubud. This coffee plantation has the world’s expensive Luvak Coffee. We understood how this coffee is processed and prepared from the cat poop. It may sound weird but the way it is produced and processed makes it the most sought after and expensive coffee in the world. We also tasted few other samples of coffees at the plantation. As it was late in the afternoon, we decided to satiate our hunger at the Queens in Ubud market area. The food served was again a delight and we had good North Indian meal with chicken and phulkas!
The evening was at leisure and we decided to enjoy the hospitality of our resort indulging in luxury and dinner by the pool. The Nasi Goreng (fried rice) served was one of best we had till date.
Day 4:
This day was at leisure for us as we wanted to explore Bali on our own. We had a late morning as we wanted to rejuvenate ourselves from last day’s hectic travelling. The breakfast served at the resort was a complete delight, both visually and gastronomically. We hired a two wheeler from a near by shop and headed towards the Nusa Dua area in Bali. This area of Bali has very nice and clean beaches. We went to the Geger Beach which is famous for the white sand. After staying at the beach for a good time, relaxing in the cool breeze, we had our lunch by the beach. We also went to one of the malls in Nusa Dua for some shopping.
Roaming around in Bali on a scooter was easy and fun. With the traffic being disciplined and the roads well maintained, it was a smooth ride all along. Towards the evening we headed for Kuta which is also famous for a beach, eating joints and a mall. We went to the discovery shopping mall which was closer to the beach. We had our dinner at the Pizza Hut near the discovery shopping mall before heading back to our resort.
Day 5:
It was time to say good bye to Bali with some beautiful memories in the past few days. We had a very relaxing stay along with some beautiful locations explored.
After a delicious breakfast at the Khayangan Dream Villas, we headed out for the airport. Due to the scarcity of time we could not go for the famous Dolphin Lodge, Bali Cruise and the Jungle Safari which are also strongly recommended activities to be done once you are in Bali. But as they say, there’s always a next time, we are definitely going to Bali again for the missed adventures and fun!
