Morris Garages Launches India’s First Internet Car MG Hector
The Internet is the present, has been the past and is the future for generations to come. But who would have imagined that the internet will make its way into the cars? Until a few years back we would say none! The times have changed and evolving with time is the need of the hour. Morris Garages(MG), UK’s topmost car manufactures, understood this need and have brought a revolution to the automotive industry as they make their way to India with the new Hector. At the recent tech launch event held at JW Marriott, Aerocity, New Delhi, MG unveiled the technical advancements, the cool features and how are they going to change the way we connect with our cars with their SUV, the Hector. The car is a game changer for the Indian market and has a lot of features that make the driving experience pleasurable, fun and secure all at the same time. Morris Garages launches India’s first internet car which will always be connected and changes the way we connect with our cars, just the way we connect with each other.
Introduction to iSmart Next-Gen Technology:
The MG Hector comes with the iSmart Next Gen Technology installed which helps the car to be always connected with a Machine2Machine (M2M) sim, powered by Airtel. This Connected Mobility Solution has been powered by Unlimit and Cisco with Airtel being the telecom partner for connectivity. The iSmart Next Technology enables the vehicle to receive Over the Air (OTA) updates for applications and software, has a plethora of preloaded apps installed, enables navigation facility through maps and has voice command controls. The technology also helps to connect to the concierge services, have a fully loaded infotainment system and can also withstand extreme climate conditions just like India.
When technologies combine, magic happens:
The car is a combination of multiple technologies provided by tech giants like Microsoft, Gaana, Unlimit, Tom-Tom, SAP, Nuance, Cisco, Airtel and Adobe.
While each of the key players plays its role, what we get as a result is a technically advanced, uber cool, a secure vehicle which cares for the owner. The iSmart Next Gen Technology is capable of receiving Over the Air (OTA) updates for software and applications. This is similar to our mobile phones and will keep the car updated with the latest features and security enhancements. The feature also helps to receive content for apps like Gaana which comes as an inbuilt app and has a premium subscription for the car owners.
With the Internet comes Security of Data:
As the car is always connected, it keeps on collecting user data based on the usage of the vehicle. All the user data is safely stored in Microsoft Azure Data Centres in India and is coupled with an immense level of security. The security mechanism will also be updated from time to time to avoid any data breach incidents. 
What looks good, feels even better:
The MG Hector comes with a 10.4″ Head Unit which is a beauty. The stylish display helps in showcasing all the features of the car, is a complete infotainment system and shows even the artwork from music in a stylish way. As people prefer to use the tablets and phones vertically, the Head Unit has also been installed vertically for easier navigation. The car is robust and secure when it comes to handling the data. All user data is stored in Azure cloud within India facility. This data helps in keeping a track of the car’s history with respect to service, uncommon tyre pressure, and other vehicle-related information.
Say Hello to MG:
MG Hector iSmart Technology comes with the Voice Commands to help you control the car better. With features like navigating to places, opening the sun-roof, activating the climate control, Nuance has made our driving experience even better. The voice commands are AI-based and have especially been designed for the Indian accent with over 100 voice commands.
From Concierge to Security to Navigation and Weather, MG has it all:
MG Hector is a car which will have the best of technology combined into one. If you are on a drive and feel like finding a new location, the I-Call feature will connect you to the Pulse Hub which in turn will guide you to your point of interest through the map navigation. The car is also equipped with an emergency response system with the E-Call feature. In case of an accident and airbags deployment, a message is sent to the concerned teams through the car’s Head Unit with the exact location coordinates. Quite impressive we must say! The car also has the weather app by Accuweather pre-installed to give you real-time updates on the weather conditions.
All of it in a mobile app, iSmart:
The iSmart Next Gen Technology will have a downloadable version of the iSmart Mobile App for all the car owners. With the help of this app, there are multiple functions that can be used to keep the car healthy, safe and updated. Features like vehicle scanning lock, the status of the car, find my car and switching on the climate control remotely on a hot day makes it desirable.
Improved Customer Experience:
To make the experience more pleasurable, SAP has developed a Customer Business Experience for MG Motor India. From regular service reminders to recognizing the car as soon as it reaches the service station, the advancements and automation like these will surely improve the customer experience.
