Honor 8 Pro – The Smart Game Changer from Huawei
The Smartphone market is changing rapidly and with this the smartphone manufacturers need to be constantly evolving and updating themselves. Huawei came up with the latest variant from its smartphone manufacturing unit Honor, the Honor 8 Pro. As it succeeds its sibling the Honor 8, there are loads of features that have been enhanced to make the Honor 8 Pro as one of the best choices available today below the 30K range in the Indian market. During the shooting of our web-series, Lucknow Meri Nazar Se, we had Honor 8 Pro as one of the important gadgets in our kitty. We explored the phone thoroughly and here in this detailed review we shall let you know the pros and the cons along with why Honor 8 Pro can be taken as the “The Smart GameChanger from Huawei”.
Looks and Body:
The Honor 8 Pro is simple yet elegant in looks. With a 5.7 inches touchscreen display, the phone looks big but is easier to handle at the same time. This phone has an aluminium body with 2.5D Gorilla Glass 3 in the front. The front panel on the top holds the 8MP selfie camera along with a few sensors. The left side of the phone has two slots which hosts both either both Nano SIMs or one SIM and one SD Card. The right side of the body holds the volume rocker and the power button. The bottom part of the phone has a USB-C type connector, a 3.5mm audio jack, the loudspeaker and the primary microphone. The rear section of the phone has a 12MP dual camera with LED flash and a finger print scanner. Overall the simple and elegant looks of the Honor 8 Pro along with the strong aluminium body makes it a perfect smartphone to hold.
Display:
The Honor 8 Pro has a 5.7 inches LTPS IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. In general terms, the display of Honor 8 Pro is crisp, sharp, clear, well saturated and a treat to watch. Be it a picture or a video, the original colors and sharpness of the object is displayed brilliantly in this smartphone. The automatic brightness adjustment helped us use the phone for hours at a stretch without any difficulties.
Battery:
This slim phone houses a 4000MAH non-removable battery. This is quite surprising for a slim phone like Honor 8 Pro to host a powerhouse of this magnitude. This phone runs beautifully throughout the day with tones of application switching. We had moderate to extreme usage of this phone which included the likes of social media applications, camera (for both pictures and videos), GPS and a few other games and this device never let us down on the battery performance. This phone easily runs for 12-15 hours on a complete charge with moderate usage.
Performance:
It uses the Kirin 960 processor powered by 1.8GHz Octa Core processor and 6GB of RAM. The phone has an inbuilt storage capacity of 128GB and can be expanded equally with a microSD card. We used the phone majorly for photography, especially food and landscapes, and shooting videos and were quite happy with its performance. There were no lagging issues while switching in between apps and the phone could easily hold a good amount of applications in the cache, making the switch smooth and fast. The phone comes with an android version 7.0 Nougat and the interface is customised EMUI ROM which is very pleasant.
Camera:
Now coming to the main feature of this phone when it comes to blogging. The Honor8 Pro hosts a 12MP dual camera with LED flash as the primary camera and an 8MP camera in the front for selfies. The phone’s camera is completely amazing when it comes to capturing both food and landscapes. We used the camera excessively and were quite impressed by the results. The different modes available for photography are Photo, HDR, Panorama, Beauty, and Light Painting. Here are a few sample shots from the phone with different modes.
5 reasons why we are in love with Honor 8 Pro!
- Honor 8 Pro is a battery powerhouse, the phone easily runs for more than 14hours with tones of applications running.
- It offers 128GB of internal storage, store tons of images so keep clicking 😉
- The camera also has a Monochrome Mode which is excellent in shooting black and white stills.
- The selfies taken are also quite clear making it a good companion for any solo wanderer.
- Low Light Photography with the Honor 8 Pro is decent enough to capture the details in the darkness.
Overall Package:
This phone is a powerhouse of performance with tons of good features. The only thing that we faced an issue with was that the phone gets heated when the camera is used for a long duration. This shall be fixed in the future OS updates. Overall this phone is definitely worth the money spent when the market has the same feature phone available at a higher price range. The Honor 8 Pro is available in India via Amazon India at Rs. 29,999. Good job Huawei!
