Google Pixel2 XL – Unboxing, Features and Review
Unboxing the Google Pixel2 XL took us down the memory lane and reminded us of unboxing Pixel2. The only significant difference we noticed while opening the package was the change in size! The Pixel 2 XL comes with a 6 inches display with an 18:9 P-OLED screen. The other components of the box were similar with a charger, a USB C-type cable, a 3.5mm connector dongle as the Pixel 2 XL also lacks a 3.5mm jack and can connect to your earphones with this dongle.
Performance:
The Pixel2 XL is a performance winner. Although the technical specs like the processor and memory are the same from the Pixel2, the increase in size doesn’t lag the performance at all. The phone runs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 MSM8998 chipset with OctaCore processor and 4GB RAM. This phone can perform multitasking effortlessly. The phone’s speed and performance is well understood when we shoot 4K videos with social media apps running in the background and it gives amazing outputs like a breeze.
The Pixel2 XL houses a 3520mA Li-on battery which is bigger than the Pixel 2. The added units can be taken as a token to run the bigger screen. The battery of this phone performs well especially throughout the day with heavy usage of social media apps, shooting pictures and creating video content. The fast charge capability makes it even quicker to get back to life when discharged completely.
The camera on the Pixel2 XL is the same as the Pixel2. The phone has a 12.2MP rear camera with Dual LED flash and an 8MP front-facing camera. The phone is amazing when it comes to clicking pictures. The portrait mode of the camera will make you fall in love with the DSLR quality pictures. The low light shots on this phone are also worth noticing. Make Google Do It:
One of the most loved features of the Google Pixel2 XL is the Google Assistant. Now you don’t need to worry about setting up reminders or playing your favorite songs, Google does it for us with charm. All you need to say is OK Google and the phone wakes up for your commands. This feature comes in very handy especially when driving and looking for directions. You don’t need to stop your car, open up maps and feed your destination. All we do now is say OK Google, take me to this place and Google takes care of the rest.
We made the best use of it when we were in Goa and had to look for directions every now and then. We never got lost even once in Goa, all thanks to Google Maps. Even our mornings begin with Google telling us about the things that are planned for today and the day ends with Google playing a good music for us to sleep. Loving it completely with OK Google!
Which one to choose, Pixel2 or Pixel2 XL?:
After using both the phones for almost 6 months now we are well acquainted and used to with the kind of work you can do with them. While the Pixel 2 is a smaller, compact and a powerhouse of performance, Pixel2 XL takes it on a larger scale and increases your scope for more. For people who love things which are compact and handy, we recommend the Pixel 2. However, if you like it large, like us, we recommend going for the Pixel2 XL as it gives an extra sense of the look and feel to everything that we do. Also, the added battery to the Pixel2 XL makes it run a little longer during the day.
