California Boulevard – The exquisite dining experience!
Me: What makes California Boulevard different from other fine dine restaurants in the city?
Manish: Sir, service! Sir, we have been asked to take care of our guest with utmost warmth. Our owners never push us for sales and want to make sure that our guests go home with the best experience ever, even better than a 5 star!
That’s the conversation I had with one of the staff members at The California Boulevard located in Sector 29, Gurgaon! There are very few fine-dine restaurants where the owners make sure that each and everything is perfect. The California Boulevard is one such exception. Right from the doorstep where an amazing Screamin’ Eagle Harley Davidson greets you to the corridor inspired by the Hollywood Walk of Fame, leading to the sitting area, everything looked perfect. The ambiance is one thing that you ought to notice once inside the restaurant. The tram-shaped bar on the left with slide-show of Hollywood movies and actors playing on the walls along with very comfortable seating arrangement indoors impresses you, instantly! They also have seating capacity outdoors with the walls painted with LA Lakers, California Surfers and Beverly Hills marking the walls.
After being in awe of the place for a good time, we started with our lunch. The starters’ session began with Dilli ki Chaat which was nice. This was followed by Corn and Cheese Croquettes which were amazing as it had the cheese dripping out once cut. Delicious!
The Indonesian Chicken Satay and Lamb Brochettes were the highlights of the starters for their perfect marination and delicious taste. We also had Chicken Adana Kebab, Beer Batter Fish, Sushi Paneer and Mixed Veg and Chive Dumplings. All these starters were prepared well, tasted unique and were a treat for the eyes and belly.
For drinks we had Long Island Ice Tea, all time favorite, and the Thai Refresher which also happens to be their signature drink. The Long Island Ice Tea was refreshing to the core as it had the perfect mix of spirits with coke. The Thai Refresher looked tempting and was also a delight to relish.
The main course had Cottage Cheese Mille Fuille, Pollo Alla Parmigiana and Thai Red Chicken Curry. While the Thai Red Chicken Curry was ok, the shortcomings were fulfilled by Pollo Alla Parmigiana which is an Italian-American Dish which has boneless breaded chicken topped with mozzarella served with spaghetti. The Cottage Cheese Mille Fuille was also good as it had layers of marinated cottage cheese stuffed with mushroom, spinach and assorted peppers.
With our bellies almost filled to the brim, it was time to jump to the sweetest and Saumya’s favorite part of the meal, the desserts! We had Sacher Torte which was a chocolate cake with layers of apricot jam. This was coated with dark chocolate and served with whipped cream which wasn’t sweet. Although the description may be lengthy but it was surely one of the best chocolate cake we had.

We also had Mango Cheese Cake, typical cheese cake with mango flavor. Flambe Baily Jamun was soothing to the eyes for the way it was presented. The bailey was heated and poured on the Gulab Jamuns live on the table. The best of the lot was TCB Kulfi Gajak which was a chef’s special and tasted yum!
The place had an exceptionally courteous staff; the chef Mr. Manoj was very kind to meet us twice while we were there and made sure everything was perfect. It was difficult to pick one best thing from the restaurant as everything was just accurate and precise. This place is definitely worth a visit. Also, if you are planning to celebrate any special occasion, the staff of this place ensures that it turns out to be a memorable one for you!
