Vishu Saumya turns 3!
At the stroke of the midnight when the world slept, we were starting a new phase of our lives in 2015. 3 years back on this day we, Vishu Saumya, were tying the blissful wedding knot to start a new journey together. A journey that would take us places we have never been. A journey that would show us the different phases of life in the most amusing way. A journey to remember, cherish and live together through each day spent.
As we turn 3 today it brings in a lot of memories we had during our past three years of marriage. From the initial days when we were busy setting up a cocoon for ourselves to today when we are both busy concentrating on our work. The days when I used to travel to Gurgaon and come back late in the night for a sip of coffee with Saumya to today when we have our evening tea together, everyday! The work life balance we maintain now makes sure we get enough time for each other. As they say, distances make the hearts grow fonder, every day I spend while Saumya is traveling, I wish either I could be with her or she comes back soon. The bond that has strengthened over the period makes our companionship grow stronger.
We spent a lot of time traveling in the first year. This included some awesome trips to Ladakh, Bali and Rann of Kutch. What started as a mere wanderlust has now turned into a family of thousands. RoadtoTaste conceptualized post 1 year of our marriage. The time when we started etching our travel and food stories for the world. The more we shared, the more love we had from our readers. This encouraged us to travel more, write more and click more! We went on from the regular 9-6 IT professionals to bloggers who were pursuing their passion to travel along with managing their jobs.
While Saumya always took the initiative and planned everything, my job was to take care of the bookings or the car if we’re out on a road trip. Speaking of road trips, we have had some beautiful road trips too. Exploring the cities of Rajasthan together is something very close to us. The beautiful lands of Bhutan while on a road trip from Darjeeling to Bhutan will always be remembered. The share of adventure sports like paragliding at Bir or Skiing and ATV at Manali were fun and exciting.
These three years of continuous traveling, exploring and experiencing has helped us grow as a couple. We have had deep, meaningful conversations while sitting at a beach in Diu or while watching the Sunset at Dal Lake. The thrill of treading the Highest Motorable Road on the world, Khardung La together was one high point of our journey, literally! The share of disagreements we had while planning a trip or the mode of travel or even a destination choice helped us understand the differences we both have as an individual.
While Saumya loves to fly and road trips, I sometimes prefer the train journey. While Saumya loves mountains, I am more of a beach person. While Saumya is an amazing navigator and DJ for a road trip, I love to drive. While Saumya is an amazing planner and organizer, I prefer things planned for me. Phew, quite contrasts!
One thing that we both value the most in the past three years of our marriage is the love and support of our families and friends. The support we got from them is also a reason for us to be where we are today. Had they not been there, some of our trips and ventures may not have been possible ever. When Saumya came up with the idea of Lucknow Meri Nazar Se, our families were the first ones to encourage us. It is with their support that we could pull off the Web-Series in just the way we wanted.
The love showered on us by our friends and followers have also helped us gain confidence in what we are doing today. Some of our trips could not have been possible without Asmita, Abhishek, Rattan and Swapnila. Thank you, guys, we love you! Special thanks to our parents and families too for helping us out at every step of our lives. As we start this day together and head out to our next destination, we promise to keep bringing you more amazing content through RoadtoTaste. Remember, the more you travel, the more you learn. So, keep traveling!
Love always!
