38 Barracks – Dine like an Army man!
Talk of Barracks and the first thing that comes to the mind is Armed Forces. 38 Barracks is located right in the outer circle of Cannaught Place and is a tribute to our heroes who have served the nation. With live music and amazing cocktails to boast about, this place has more than just good, soothing ambiance and prompt service. We happened to visit this place on a weekday in the evening and were surprised by the footfall.
This place is themed just like an Army Officer’s home. With the key holder on the right to the drawing room type seating area in the center, it already feels you are home. The medals and trophies on the wall speaks of the valor and courage of the officer. The first floor of the house has a balcony area, live music in one corner and lounge seating in the center. The star Chef Gautam Chaudhary has curated their new menu which boasts of some Jumbo Prawns, Beetroot ki Galouti and Harista Chicken to start with. Check this video to get a closer look of the Barracks!
The menu is set with the army style. The names of the dishes take you directly to the battlefield. Here’s what all we had. The chef made sure we all had a clean palate and was thus served us with Watermelon Amouse Bousche topped with feta cheese before we start relishing the starters.
Clash of Clans: Two different kinds of fish served with sauce. The fishes were both soft and melting in the mouth.
Paneer Tikka Barrels: Well marinated Paneer Tikka served in typical barrel style. The paneer was soft to the core and the marination was tangy. Other starters we tried were Khumb ki Galouti, Malaysian Military Chicken Satay and Battalion Samosa Booster. Each of them had its own unique taste and flavor and are recommended truly.
After almost being full with the starters, we decided to be light on the main course. Even then we could not resist ourselves from ordering their famous Dal Makhni and Chicken Banjara with Butter Naan. Both the veg and non-veg main course items had their unique flavor and taste. Enjoyed them to the core.
The owner of the restaurant Ankur Agarwal shared his story with us of coming up with this unique style restaurant. He also took time to take us on a tour of the restaurant and showed us various sections while sipping the drinks.
It is often said that the experience matters more than anything else and if you happen to visit 38 Barracks, you will be left with an awesome experience to cherish in future. All thanks to the amazing staff, hospitality, live music and ambiance, the place seemed just perfect for a couple of drinks and good food with friends and family. The overall experience of the evening amongst friends was something we look forward to soon again.
