Devaaya Resort- Gateway to Nature’s Bliss at Divar Islands, Goa!
Goa, the word itself is synonymous with partying, chilling and enjoying to the core! Be it a group of friends or a family vacation or a honeymooner’s paradise, Goa has always been a party destination largely for most of the crowd visiting it every year. However, this beach land of our country has another less explored and untouched side to it. Goa is surrounded by islands on all sides. One of the most popular islands close to this place is the Divar Island. Divar Island is one part of Goa which is completely disconnected from Goa in terms of nightlife, partying and revelry. However, Divar Island is also a place which can provide you with peace in abundance. When we visited Goa in July to explore the richness of the monsoons there, we explored the Divar Island during the first two days of our trip. We stayed with Devaaya – Ayurveda and Nature Cure Center while exploring the Divar Islands and we could not have asked for a better place for detoxification at the onset of our week-long trip to Goa. So here we are with the review of Devaaya – Gateway to Nature’s Bliss at Divar Islands!
The Location:
Devaaya is located in the Divar Islands at a distance of almost 10kms from Panaji, the capital of Goa. In order to reach, one has to go across the Mandovi River by a ferry from Panaji. The ferry ride is complimentary for two-wheeler and pedestrians and a nominal fee of 10INR is charged for a four-wheeler. Just before you reach the resort, as soon as you cross the Mandovi river by a ferry you get into that zone of no-pollution, no noise and greenery all around at the Divar island. As Divar is an island you will find very fewer people there and all seem to be nice.
The rooms are divided into three categories, Supreme, Villa and Suite. We were staying in the Villa category rooms at the Devaaya which was a typical Goan style small house built with all modern amenities inside. The room was very spacious, clean and catered to all our needs. The bathtubs in the bathroom added to the spices of staying at the Devaaya. The rooms also have a backyard which opened to the paddy rice fields and the river giving a spectacular view from the room. The villa category rooms had a separate living room along with the bedroom and attached washroom.
The Activities:
Devaaya can also be called the activity hub of Divar islands and Goa. The hotels in Goa offers all amenities to provide a comfortable stay but Devaaya, on the other hand, goes a step beyond. Apart from providing all the modern amenities for a comfortable stay, it also offers additional services and activities which can help you choose a healthy lifestyle.
Yoga and Meditation are an essential part of Devaaya. With multiple yoga centers for both indoor and outdoor yoga, there are yoga and meditation sessions twice in a day. The guests take part in the yoga and meditation activities as a part of detoxification offered by Devaaya.
Ayurvedic and Naturopathy Therapies:
Devaaya specializes in Ayurvedic and Naturopathic Therapies. A team of expert masseurs helps the guests by conducting spa sessions for them. During our stay at Devaaya, we opted for the Abhayangam (Ayurvedic Oil Massage) and were totally relaxed post that.
Being a wellness center, Devaaya takes care of all your dietary needs and other problem areas. They have a team of specialist doctors on the campus who would consult you and prepare your diet chart along with the therapies to be taken during your stay. A complete care solution we would say.
As Divar is a small island, you can easily hop onto a bicycle available at Devaaya to take a round around the island. We took these bicycles to explore a nearby island, Vashi on the second day. More on that in detail later.
The staff is warm and courteous. With a smile on their face and a positive attitude, we found the staff to be always available. During our long conversations with the General Manager Mr. Sanjay Pagi, we understood the pointers which keep the staff at Devaaya motivated all the time. Rarely do you find the staff to be always on their toes to help you always, Devaaya scored full marks for this.
